Tuk tuks are a great way to get around Bankok, however, due to Bankok's endless downtown traffic you end up breathing in all the fumes from the vehicles around you.

I preferred a combination of skytrain, cabs and local buses. Tuk tuk experience was very negative - drivers try to take you on obvious con trips like jewellery shopping.

There should be better maps of the bus system.

I find that the Sky Train and cabs are the way to get around. Do make sure that the cab turns on its meter. The subway is also very good in Bangkok. Great place to go to visit the dentist.

Great video for someone who has not been there, and is about to go.

Be careful with Taxi driver, he will take you to jewellery shopping. Whether you buy or not, they will give Gas compensation to taxi driver. Better use MRTA or subway. So comfortable. Also try using river with long boat. No traffic jam and different way to see Bangkok.

Tuk tuks can be fun but only for the experience, if using them when in light traffic be careful as they can get up some speed and even roll! Taxis sky train and the underground are the best, safe (most taxis), and air con!

Did you know that some bus routes in Bangkok are now free, so far i have only ridden on two such routes, the 21 & 82, I have yet to learn of the other routes but when I do I will ride them, the free routes are easy to spot because they have "FREE BUS" written in Thai across the front and back windows, free travel is great.
