Correction... the 23 tram no longer exists, but you can take trams 9 or 20 to Ujezd stop. This tram stop is at the base of Petrin hill which is a good uphill climb to the tower. But from the base, you can take the funicular up to the little Eiffel Tower which is a unique and fun way to get to the top, especially for children. I like to take the tram 22 to Pohorelec and walk through Petrin from the castle side which is flat until you reach the stairs to the tower. This way you can avoid much of the walk up.
