Temple etiquette should be taken seriously, very important to Thai people.

It is very easy to communicate with most everyone speaking English. But, as a general rule, taxi drivers do not speak English. Therefore, it is wise to bring along a map with your destination circled for the taxi driver.

Why is the left hand not considered to be clean?

Answering to Nicole's question: "Why is the left hand not considered to be clean?" =============== This is because in the olden days (even till today in some places and cities in Thailand), Thai people uses their left hand to wash their buttocks after taking a poo-poo. May sound funny, but true. :)

Sean, a lot of people have trouble with maps - including taxi drivers. Much better to have someone write the full name and address of your destination in Thai. Even then, good luck, LOL!

Although travelling in Thailand is very cheap. Taxis at bus stations, Airports etc can charge tourists a lot more. Call and have a coffee at a local cafe ask how much for taxi to where you want to go (they will give you Thai rate). I had to go through 4 taxi drivers to get this rate but it was 1/3rd the tourist charge.
